CareQueue.

A compact support inbox for small WordPress teams: visitors submit a site issue, then an administrator reviews it and moves it through a clear status workflow.

Independent portfolio concept

Built in response to a WordPress developer role brief. It is not affiliated with the company in that listing and has not been used by a real client. The portfolio itself runs Next.js; CareQueue is a separate WordPress plugin artifact.

01 / WORKFLOW

A support flow with a clear owner

CareQueue turns a WordPress page into a small, practical support entry point. The shortcode renders an accessible form; a server-side handler validates the request; and the wp-admin inbox gives the site team a place to triage, resolve, reopen, or delete it.

✓

Shortcode form

Add [carequeue_form] to any page; responsive fields collect only the details needed to follow up.

✓

Safe request handling

Nonce checks, field bounds, sanitization, a honeypot, and short-lived rate limiting protect public submissions.

✓

WordPress admin

A capability-gated inbox shows request details and supports explicit status changes and deletion.

✓

Database lifecycle

dbDelta() creates an indexed custom table and a schema version supports safe upgrades.

02 / ARCHITECTURE

From visitor to resolved request

01

Shortcode

[carequeue_form] renders a semantic, keyboard-friendly support form.

↓
02

WordPress hooks

admin-post.php handles public and authenticated submissions.

↓
03

Custom table

Bounded, sanitized fields are stored with a status and timestamps.

↓
04

wp-admin inbox

Administrators review, update, reopen, or delete a request.

03 / ENGINEERING

Implementation choices

01

Trust boundaries

Every admin mutation checks manage_options and a ticket-specific nonce. Output is escaped at the point it is rendered.

02

Spam and privacy

A honeypot and a three-per-ten-minute limit reduce casual abuse. The raw IP is not stored; a keyed hash lives only in a short-lived transient.

03

Operator control

Requests remain in the database until an admin deletes them. The README calls out the privacy disclosure and retention decision the site operator must make.

The ZIP is an installable plugin package. Activate it on a WordPress site, add [carequeue_form] to a page, and use the CareQueue menu in wp-admin. The portfolio domain does not run WordPress, so the plugin is not installed into this Next.js site.

Plugin source, setup guide, and manual review checklist are included in the ZIP.

04 / SCOPE

Scope and honest limits

This first version focuses on the requested WordPress, PHP, database, and support workflow skills. It does not send email, accept attachments, promise response times, or claim production use. Assignment, notifications, advanced spam controls, and a richer role model are deliberate future work.
